Within these two days the Special Detachment 88 Antiterrorism from the Indonesian Police nabbed six suspected terrorist belonging to Abu Omar network. One of them is alleged to have hide guns on the forest area around Indonesian University campus in Depok, West Java.
The Indonesian Police spokesperson Kombes Boy Rafli Amar explained that the anti-terror special force arrested four people that are already on the wanted list as a member of Abu Omar group.
Men arrested on Saturday (12/11/2011) are DAP (34 yrs old) from Cipondoh Makmur, BH aka Dodi (35 yrs old) from Cibodas, Karawaci, AA aka Agung (31 yrs old) from Rawa Badak Utara and S from Taman Raja Tanggerang.
Boy said that the Police had to shoot AA on the leg for resisting arrest. When fronted by the Police, AA was carrying a M16 caliber gun. The same type of gun was also discovered with S including 2 magazine and 313 bullets.
The other two alleged terrorists were arrested the next day. They were DWT (50 yrs old) from Duren Sawit and SGO aka Sugih who sells fried rice on the side of the street in Jati Rahayu, Bekasi.
Boy added that BH admitted to have received two FN guns jungle type and 20 bullets. He says that he hide those items on the forest area around Indonesian University in Depok.
The Police is still trying to understand the intention and target of this Abu Omar group as well as trying to secure all the weapons and ammunition possessed by the gang members. ”We are still looking for the said weapons” said Boy.
The arrest came as the Police continue to investigate as a result of the apprehension of Abu Omar in East Kalimantan earlier. This group is known as Kaltim group and has been known to import weapons and ammunitions from South Philippine. Some members of the group are also implicated in Bali Bombing in 2002. (Jakara Updates)
