Netanyahu: “We are in Jerusalem and we are here to stay”
The American embassy opened yesterday in Jerusalem, deliberately coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Israel’s creation.
Jerusalem Day this year in Israel began in the evening of Saturday (May 12) and ended in the evening of Sunday (May 13). The date commemorates Israel’s capture of East Jerusalem from the Jordanians and thus giving Jews control of the whole city.
Today (May 15) is Nakba Day – ‘Nakba’ is Arabic for “catastrophe” – and marked by Palestinians to remember the loss of their national homeland to the Zionists.
Incidentally, Netanyahu joined the IDF Special Forces shortly after the Six-Day War in 1967 that gained Israel its “eternal and undivided capital” of Jerusalem.
