COLOMBO: Siasatan awal terhadap insiden serangan bom di Sri Lanka pada Ahad mendedahkan ia ada kaitan dengan kejadian tembakan di Christchurch, Mac lalu.

Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan Sri Lanka, Ruwan Wijewardene ketika berucap di persidangan Parlimen khas pada Selasa mendakwa insiden yang meragut nyawa lebih 300 mangsa itu sebagai tindakan balas dendam terhadap serangan di dua masjid di Christchurch, New Zealand pada 15 Mac lalu.

"Siasatan awal mendedahkan apa yang berlaku di Sri Lanka (pada Ahad) adalah sebagai membalas dendam terhadap serangan ke atas umat Islam di Christchurch," kata Wijewardene.

Dalam kejadian di Christchurch, New Zealand, 50 mangsa terkorban manakala 50 lagi cedera apabila seorang lelaki menembak jemaah di Masjid Al-Noor dan Pusat Islam Linwood di Christchurch ketika mereka sedang bersedia untuk menunaikan solat Jumaat.

Sementara itu, dalam serangan pada Ahad lalu di Colombo, sejumlah 321 mangsa terkorban dan kira-kira 500 yang lain cedera dalam letupan bom di tiga gereja dan tiga hotel bertaraf lima bintang di ibu negara Sri Lanka itu. 

Tiada kumpulan atau individu mengaku bertanggungjawab di atas serangan berkenaan. (AA)

Important to note that IS has claimed responsibility for many attacks without substantial evidence. Similarly, analysts have questioned if retaliation for  is the motivation given that occurred mere weeks ago & these blasts required planning.

False alarm according to those on scene. But bomb scares are likely to continue. Locals near one of the affected churches have taken it upon themselves to inspect bags of people who seem like outsiders, entering areas past curfew.
